What you can do
- Download any file, free of charge, with no registration.
- Insert the blocks into your own drawings – including drawings you produce commercially for clients and employers.
- Modify, scale, explode or adapt the blocks to suit your project.

- Use the blocks with no attribution. Credit is appreciated but never required.
What you cannot do
- Resell the block files themselves, individually or as a collection.

No warranty
The files are provided free of charge and without warranty of any kind. They are drawn with care and checked before publishing, but you are responsible for verifying that any block, symbol or detail is suitable and correct for your project and complies with the codes and standards that apply to your work.
Frequently asked questions
Are these CAD blocks really free?
Yes. Every file on the site is free to download, with no registration, no accounts and no hidden paywalls. The site is funded by advertising.
Can I use the blocks in commercial projects?
Yes. You can use the blocks in drawings you produce for clients and employers, in tender and construction documentation, and in any other commercial work. The only restriction is on reselling or re-hosting the block files themselves.
Do I need to credit blocks.draftsperson.net?
No. Attribution is never required. If you would like to credit the site or link back to it, that is appreciated but entirely optional.
What software can open these DWG files?
The files are mostly saved in AutoCAD 2000 DWG format, so they open in AutoCAD and virtually every DWG-compatible program, including BricsCAD, DraftSight, ZWCAD, GstarCAD, nanoCAD, LibreCAD, IntelliCAD, ProgeCAD and many others.
How do I insert a downloaded block into my drawing?
Use the INSERT command in AutoCAD (or the equivalent in your software) to place the downloaded DWG as a block, or open the file and copy–paste the geometry. Most blocks are drawn on layer 0 with ByLayer/ByBlock properties and insert at 0,0,0, so they adopt your drawing’s layer standards automatically.
Can I share the files with colleagues?
Sharing files within your team or company for project work is fine. Publicly re-hosting the files for download is not – please link to the relevant page on this site instead, so others always get the latest version.
What are AutoCAD blocks?
AutoCAD blocks are reusable drawing symbols — doors, furniture, vehicles, title blocks and the like — that you insert into a drawing instead of redrawing them each time. This site offers a large, free collection of them as DWG downloads.
Do I need to register or sign up to download?
No. There is no account or registration — the DWG files download instantly.
What file format are the blocks in?
The blocks are supplied as DWG files, the native drawing format of AutoCAD. Each download opens directly in AutoCAD and other DWG-compatible software.
Which versions of AutoCAD are supported?
Files are saved in older DWG formats (mostly AutoCAD 2000), so they open in virtually any AutoCAD release — old or new — without compatibility errors.
Are the blocks 2D or 3D?
Most blocks are 2D symbols for plan, elevation and detail drawings. Each download's category and description tell you what it contains.
Are the DWG files cleaned and ready to use?
Yes. Files are purged and audited before publishing, so they insert cleanly without carrying unwanted layers, styles or errors into your drawing. Most are drawn on layer 0 (ByBlock/ByLayer) and insert at 0,0,0.
What types of blocks can I download?
Categories include architecture and interiors, MEP services, structural and civil, furniture, vehicles, landscaping, electrical symbols and title blocks — more than thirty categories in all.
Are the downloads safe to use?
The downloads are ordinary DWG drawing files, not programs or installers, so there is nothing to run or execute on your computer.
How often are new blocks added?
New blocks are added regularly. You can see the newest ones in the latest additions on the homepage, or browse the full list of every block.
Do you offer Revit families as well as AutoCAD blocks?
Yes. Free AutoCAD blocks are here on blocks.draftsperson.net, and free Revit families are available separately at families.draftsperson.net.
What is a DWG file?
DWG is the standard file format for storing 2D and 3D CAD drawing data. It is the native format of AutoCAD and is supported by most CAD programs.
