About This Library
Online since 2003, Draftsperson.net is one of the oldest and most trusted names in CAD and technical drawing. Many copycat sites have appeared over the years — this is the original.

blocks.draftsperson.net is a free library of CAD blocks, symbols and construction details in DWG format. Every file downloads instantly – no registration, no accounts, no paywalls – and works in AutoCAD and any other software that opens DWG files.
Who runs this site
The library is curated by YZ, a professional drafter with more than twenty years of experience in architectural, structural and civil drafting. The blocks here were drawn or collected during real project work, then cleaned and standardised before being published.
YZ also runs the Art of Technical Drawing YouTube channel and the wider Draftsperson.net family of sites: blog.draftsperson.net for drafting articles and families.draftsperson.net for free Revit families.
Quality standards
Every block in the library follows the same conventions, so it behaves predictably the moment you insert it:
- Saved in an older AutoCAD DWG format (mostly AutoCAD 2000) so it opens in any DWG-compatible software, old or new.
- Cleaned with PURGE and AUDIT to remove errors and unused data.
- Drawn on layer 0 with colours and linetypes set ByLayer or ByBlock, so blocks adopt your drawing’s layer standards.
- Sensible insertion points (usually 0,0,0) for accurate placement.
How the site is funded
The site is funded by advertising. Downloads are counted for popularity rankings but never gated – you will never be asked to register, subscribe or pay. If the library saves you drafting time, you can buy YZ a coffee.
Using the blocks
All blocks are free for personal, educational and commercial projects. See the license and FAQ page for the details.
