Description
A complete process and instrumentation diagram (P&ID / PID) symbol library drawn in the EN ISO 10628 idiom - 150 symbols across 11 categories, spanning vessels and tanks, columns and reactors, heat transfer, pumps, compressors and drives, valves and actuators, piping fittings, separation and filtration, solids handling and instrumentation. Presented as a single grouped legend sheet, ready to insert on any process drawing. A free AutoCAD DWG file download.
What's in the library (150 symbols, 11 categories):
- Lines & Connections (13) - process lines, junctions, signal lines, off-page connectors, insulated, jacketed and heat-traced pipe
- Vessels & Tanks (15) - pressure vessels, storage tanks, spheres, silos, hoppers, jacketed, coiled and agitated vessels
- Columns & Reactors (7) - tray and packed columns, fixed, fluidised and stirred reactors, scrubber
- Heat Transfer (11) - shell and tube, plate, double-pipe, air-cooled and spiral exchangers, kettle reboiler, condenser, cooling tower, fired heater
- Pumps, Compressors & Drives (18) - centrifugal, positive-displacement, vacuum and diaphragm pumps, ejector, compressors, blowers, fans, turbines and drives
- Valves (19) - gate, globe, ball, butterfly, plug, needle, diaphragm, check, three- and four-way, relief, control and self-acting valves
- Valve Actuators (7) - handwheel, diaphragm, motor, solenoid, piston, spring and lever
- Fittings & Piping Accessories (19) - reducers, flanges, blinds, strainers, steam trap, sight glass, expansion joint, orifice and restriction plates, static mixer, flame arrestor
- Separation & Filtration (13) - filters, cyclones, centrifuge, knock-out drum, three-phase separator, decanter, precipitator, membrane module
- Solids Handling (13) - belt and screw conveyors, bucket elevator, crushers, mill, screens, rotary airlock, feeders, dryers, mixer, weigh hopper
- Instrumentation (15) - field, panel and shared-display instruments, computer and PLC functions, flow elements and meters, level gauge, analyser
Drawn as a real CAD library, not a picture:
- Native line work - LINE, CIRCLE, ARC, ELLIPSE and LWPOLYLINE - so a circle is a circle you can snap a centre to and a line weight is something you can change
- Layered to ISO 10628-1 line-weight practice, main process lines heaviest through to light instrument work, with true-RGB layer colours so it plots correctly whether you drive line weight from the layer (STB) or from colour (CTB)
- 353 connection points on a dedicated PID_PORT layer, snappable with NODe and turned off by default for plotting
- Tag attributes on 25 symbols - instrument bubbles carry FUNC and NUM, tagged equipment carries TAG - filled with defaults on insert and editable per instance
- Drawn for 1:1 plotting on A1/A0; scale the set uniformly for a different sheet size
- The drawing's text style resolves to Arial internally, so nothing on your machine or in your AutoCAD profile changes when you open it
About the standard:
The symbols are drawn from scratch in the EN ISO 10628 idiom, not traced or copied from the copyrighted standard. The abstract "general" basic symbols are deliberately omitted, and the instrumentation set follows the companion ISO 3511 / EN 62424 conventions. Check anything contractual against your own copy of the standard, which takes precedence where a symbol differs.
