Description
A straw bale bank (straw bale barrier) detail for erosion and sediment control on building and civil sites, drawn as an anchoring detail and a bedding detail. Bound bales are laid on the contour and pinned with two steel pickets or 50 × 50 stakes driven at least 0.5m into the ground, with the first stake angled towards the previously laid bale to lock the row together; the bedding detail shows the bales set into a 100mm vertical face so runoff cannot undercut them – the barrier that slows sheet flow and drops its sediment before it leaves the site.
Straw bale banks are a standard measure on erosion-and-sediment-control plans, and this annotated detail gives you a ready version to drop in and reference from your site plan.
