Description
A road sub-soil (subsurface) drainage detail, drawn in section at 1:10, showing a filter drain placed behind the kerb and gutter to draw water out of the pavement layers. A DN100 uPVC perforated pipe and sock sits in a 300mm-wide trench filled with 10mm Type A filter material and wrapped in non-woven geotextile, with a minimum 50mm filter bed under the pipe to give a drainage path – all detailed to AS 3500.3 and Aus-Spec conventions.
Sub-soil drains are standard alongside road and driveway pavements to stop saturation of the subbase and basecourse, and this annotated section gives you a reusable standard to drop into your civil and stormwater drawings, then adjust the pipe, filter grading and trench to suit the job.
