Description
A typical rural road cross section (hotmix-surfaced variant), drawn symmetrically about the centreline across the road reservation. The section sets out a 6,000mm sealed carriageway with 500mm verges and 1,000mm gravel shoulders, a 3% minimum / 5% maximum crossfall, and 1-in-3 batters down to table drains, with guide posts and delineators to the road authority standard and rock-pitched swales where grades exceed 10%. The pavement is built up from a compacted FCR base and sub-base course, with the layer thickness increased for lower-CBR subgrades as noted.
It is a ready reference standard for rural road and subdivision drawings – drop it in and adjust the seal width, shoulders and pavement depth to suit the design traffic and subgrade.
