Description
A detail showing acceptable methods of stepping concrete levelling strips where a footing is founded on sloping rock, drawn at 1:20. The first method rakes the underside of the levelling strip down the rock at a maximum slope of 1 in 10 with any face step kept under 200mm; the second cuts a clean vertical step into the rock, made up with mass concrete if required, with the brick joint set over the step – the two ways to follow a falling rock line without leaving the strip unsupported or over-steep.
It is a reusable structural standard you drop into a footing drawing where rock is close to the surface, and adjust to the measured rock profile.
