Description
A detail showing acceptable methods of stepping a strip footing where it follows falling ground, drawn at 1:20. The first method steps the footing vertically – no more than two masonry courses per step, with the lap between the upper and lower footing at least 1.5 times the footing depth so the two levels overlap and stay tied; the second rakes the footing down the slope at a maximum grade of 1 in 10 to its underside – the two ways to change level without leaving an unsupported or over-steep footing.
It is a reusable structural standard you drop into a footing drawing and adjust the step height and lap to the ground fall and footing depth.
