A typical flexible duct support detail for HVAC ductwork, showing how flexible (flex) duct is cradled so it hangs without pinching. A 0.6 galv sheet support strip – about 50 × 200mm, or to suit the duct diameter, with slotted ends and sharp edges removed – is bent on site into a curved cradle and hung on straps through the slots, spreading the load around the underside of the flex so its diameter is not choked at the support.

The note limits the maximum allowable sag to 40mm per metre, keeping airflow resistance down. It is a reusable mechanical standard you drop onto a duct layout and size to the flex diameter.
